Cornel West joins Newark Collegiate Academy, city officials at ribbon-cutting for new facility

After years of borrowing classroom space and at times operating without desks and chairs, the students of Newark Collegiate Academy cut the ribbon on their new school today, and were welcomed by one of the country’s most influential thinkers.

“You are representing not just the academy, not just Newark, not just America,” Cornel West said today to a roomful of students, teachers, and policy makers. “You are representing the best of the human spirit.”

  1. Congratulations! This is amazing news. Newark Collegiate Academy seems like a great school, I am currently applying to NCA for my tenth through twelfth grade school years. I hope I am accepted to the school because I desperately want but more importantly, need a challenging and academically great school environment like Newark Collegiate Academy’s.

  3. I would like to thank any and everybody who helped us start our new school and it means a lot to me because I’ve been with KIPP since the 5th grade. These schools really made me the young lady who I am today.
